Val Kerry graduated with a BA(Hons)Fine Art from Manchester Metropolitan University and joined Bankley Studios in 2009. Prior to studying she was employed as a 'Verbatim Reporter' at the Crown Courts in Manchester which led her into a fascination of human behaviour and mans inhumanity toward man.
Being an pro-active pacifist her work often focuses on human rights. Whilst attending protests photography is used as one of a series of references to her work often digitally or physically manipulating them further in an attempt to draw the viewer in to become a fresh witness to 'the happening'
She challenges the viewer not to merely be the bystander but to become involved in making active decisions about making a difference by whatever means.
Human Rights work is issued copyright free and has been used in various places such as 'The Washington Post' 'Reprieve' 'Amnesty International' and also during the United Nations 60th Anniversary celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
