Unmade in England emerged from a process based project which involved deconstructing charity shop clothes and reconstructing them into balls of yarn and quilted fabric. The resulting yarn and quilts had the potential to be transformed into something else...
Pre-used clothing & household textiles are unmade and remade to create evolving artworks. The familiarity of the materials makes the work accessible and evocative whilst the demolition process harbours disturbing undertones.
The fabrics have individual histories from which secrets can be discovered and fragments recognized to tell a story or ignite a memory.
Amanda will be running free workshops inspired by the exhibition on 21, 22, 28, 29 June, details to follow on www.unmadeinengland.blogspot.com
