Project Space, Bankley Studios & Gallery
4 - 8pm
The Day of the Dead is coming to Levenshulme!
Join us in our Day of the Dead ofrenda (altar) this 7th November from 4pm to 8pm at Bankley Studios Project Space on the 3rd Floor, in Levenshulme. This is a great opportunity to see and learn about one of Mexico's most well-known traditions around the world, you won't be disappointed!
Free entry, free hot drink and everyone welcome! Bring a piece of fruit or candle to make it grow during the day! Everyone welcome, children friendly!
Our ofrenda is in memory of those who have been killed - ordinary people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time - during the ongoing low intensity war in Mexico since 2006 and activists, journalists and human rights defenders who have been murdered by the Mexican government for doing their job or for being critical of the State.
Manchester for Ayotzinapa is a multicultural collective formed a year ago by people from all walks of life in response to the disappearance of the 43 students of Ayotzinapa, Mexico. The collective raises awareness on human rights issues in Mexico through regular fundraising and solidarity events.
Bankley Studios & Gallery is only 5 minutes walk from Levenshulme train station or 15 minutes drive from Manchester city centre. Public transport: 192 bus from town.
