Bankley is pleased to present Lux, an exhibition of recent work by Marie Bergin. Bergin's practice combines audio and visual components that are designed to be both welcoming and thought provoking. The boxes in this installation create a different mood from every angle they are viewed at, and the audio in each is comprised of sounds that would normally be heard within a gallery. The work gives the viewer a strong sense of their own placement within the gallery and Bergin stresses the importance of the viewer being able to interact and move around the space at ease. Bergin studied New Music and Media at the University of Central Lancashire, and is a practising artist based in Manchester. Her artwork is clearly influenced by her interest in music (she is a classically trained musician and also works as a DJ); she set up and has exhibited with sometimes artists, a group of electronic musicians and visual artists. Bergin has exhibited throughout the North West.
