“ And the eyes of them both were opened, and they saw the true form of their daemons, and spoke with them.”

Knowing your daemons and searching for redemption is the inspiration for Nicolas Ridehalgh’s latest exhibition. The work in “Everything but Angels” follows Ridehalgh’s journey to make sense of the last thirty years of his life.

Using a visual language inspired by “visionary” artist Stanley Spencer Nicolas Ridehalgh is articulating his own struggle to find redemption for the 15 year old he was and come to terms with the struggles with mental health he experienced.

Ridehalgh’s work explores the eight-year period he went through where he striped himself of all those things that make up an individual’s identity. As a self-taught painter he also celebrates the rebirth of his identity through his art form.

Nicolas Ridehalgh has been a member of Bankley Studios for the last five years and has become famous for his brandy and popcorn at open studios.
