The Pilgrim's DigressSimon Naish 18
October - 9 November 2003 |
|
An exhibition of paintings examining our cultural and social preoccupations, applying carnivalesque themes to such collective obsessions as celebrity, beauty and youth culture as well as our current fascination with reality television. Using
the carnival as a metaphor for so called 'low-cultural' pursuits, 'The
Pilgrim's Digress' is an assertion of our continual immersion in, and
celebration of, a popular culture rooted in recurring, universal themes. Simon
Naish is based at Bankley Studios and further examples of his work
