Claire Tindale is an artist working across a range of media and disciplines, using that which is most appropriate to the ideas being explored. The work can largely be described as installation and as with Façade, may be part inspired by a particular location or venue. There is also a strong photographic thread (not represented here) which explores the versatility and potential of the medium, particularly within the context of installation. Examples of this are the pieces which use projections onto plaster cast surfaces, these explore notions of reality and illusion, whilst also having a content which reflects on interrelationships or the human condition. Façade is also concerned with visual deception in the form of concealment, an overly decorative feature is created in order to disguise the utilitarian aesthetic behind. Another body of work, Date Related (see The Year 2000 above), draws on Tindale's practice as a graphic designer, Jon Barraclough from LSAD (Liverpool School of Art & Design) comments that the collection of works 'is as much about an information design aesthetic as the concepts which are presented.' Claire Tindale is
a practising artist and designer with an MA in Communication Design who
has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally, and currently lectures
in art colleges across the North West. She has completed projects coordinated
by Lime (previously Hospital Arts) in Manchester and has run several workshops
for both children and adults.
