Sophie Mackreth returned to Art in her 20s, studying and gaining experience in the Arts and Health field. Sophie has worked as Arts and Regeneration Officer for Tameside MBC since 2003, and came to Bankley House Studios in 2006, when she was in a position to dedicate more time to her own practice. Her current work is a collection of figurative art derived from Life Study. Her materials; whether pen drawing, machine embroidery or digital graphics, are chosen to indicate a love of line. Resistance to further tonal information allows the contours of the piece to define an area of pattern. This can be a window to reveal something of the person not on view to the world. The most recent work, which develops a doodled imagery, appears to tattoo the body with this thematic material. View Graphic
