Ciara is a photographer and former print journalist who has lived in Levenshulme since 2003. Her work is rooted in community and questions about representation.
She has worked on long-term, independent documentary projects with communities including Eastern European Roma and indigenous Travellers.
During the pandemic, she made a crowdfunded book about the local lockdown experience, Levy Lockdown Portraits, followed by a zine celebrating the creativity of 36 local residents. She was a resident artist at Levenshulme Market, as part of a Platinum Jubilee-funded project.
Since then she has developed socially engaged projects within a Wigan homeless charity, a Chester mental health space and a special school.
Ciara is currently an artist in residence at Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool. She is also a photography tutor at Manchester Metropolitan University.
