Bankley Gallery will open its doors to the public from 26th June and we're kicking off with Axel Bottenberg's solo show Art History in 12 Easy Steps.
The exhibition focuses on art history, an integral component of the work by Axel Bottenberg. Referencing “Art Afterpieces” by Ward Kimball, and working as an art teacher in various failing schools around Manchester, the treatment of art history in Axel’s practice heroically attempts to have a serious element, but the irreverence inevitably bubbles up to the surface. He loves art history and it plays an important role in his practice.
The show features a selection of paintings and small scale 3-D work covering the period from antiquity to 20th century art.
With the safety of visitors and Bankley members being our main priority we are having to control visitor numbers and are allowing a maximum of four visitors to be in the gallery at one time. We have put a booking system for the PV in place and suggest that you book your visit in advance to avoid having to queue or worse still not being able to gain access at all.
To attend the PV please book here:

We suggest that you wear a face mask if possible and if you have any symptoms, please stay at home and keep others safe. It is also worth noting that there is currently no public access to toilet facilities at Bankley.
The exhibition will also open Sat 27th & Sun 28th 1200-1600 max number of 4 guests in gallery at a time. Other times by arrangement only. Please contact Axel via the Facebook Event page to arrange a visit outside of those times.
